The Harford County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a multidisciplinary, child-friendly place which has been operational since August of 1993. We are committed to the best practices in response to child maltreatment and exploitation. The CAC is an accredited center with the National Children's Alliance (NCA) and a member of the Maryland Children's Alliance (MCA). Our team consists of an Executive Board, a Program Director, Social Workers, Prosecutors, Forensic Interviewers, Victim Advocates, Therapists, a Pediatrician, and Law Enforcement; as well as a therapy dog and Maryland's first Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K-9.
We are the Harford County Child Advocacy Center. Through commitment, advocacy, and multidisciplinary collaboration we prevent, intervene, investigate, prosecute, and heal victims and their families of child maltreatment. Through education and outreach within our community, we prevent abuse before it begins and stop abuse when it happens.
This multidisciplinary team is the recognized community expert in the areas of child maltreatment and exploitation. Our comprehensive response includes: education, justice for victims through investigation and prosecution, therapeutic services to all family members, medical support, and linkage to other community resources. We always make the child our first priority.
We provide thorough investigations and services with a professional and trauma-informed approach.
We maintain a child first, family supportive atmosphere while coordinating community resources that include education and prevention.
We employ strong collaborative relationships by utilizing a respectful, multidisciplinary, team building approach, and encouraging confidential communication between partnering organizations and local communities.
